Cape Leyte Remodel (click here for more photos)

A beautiful remodel on Cape Leyte on Siesta Key - the client,  from Germany and wanted a truly modern look. They visit with their young children every year and needed clean maintenance-free modern living. Accented with a splash of a different color in each room complemented by the furnishings. All new infrastructure, kitchens and baths.

Beautiful Florida Remodel on Cape Leyte

Sun Circle House (click here for more photos)

This house was completely renovated in 1997- here are some before and after pictures - one of the most successful pools I have ever designed, with a 46' lap lane, a one foot deep lounging area for young children and relaxing adults, and highlighted by a splashing waterfall - all encircled by tropical palms and bamboos.  The house was originally a 1954 2/1, typical for it's time with small encapsulated rooms that I opened up into a modern style home. We added a master bedroom suite with closet, master bath, guest bath, and vaulted ceilings. For the interior there is extensive use of bamboo trim and cabinets. The Living Room and Kitchen both open up to covered porches which interface with the tropical landscaping.

The style is what I call "Key West Craftsman" style.

Ana Maria Island Remodel

Before and After for an Anna Maria Island Duplex - walking distance to the beach, the house was built the 1960's and was updated with new roofline with an emphasis on tropical landscaping, bamboo accents, all to bring out the island character of the house. Totally new kitchens, baths, vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans throughout. The clients were from New Jersey and successfully sold the property within eight months of completion in a difficult market.

Dock on the Bay Condominium Project (click here for more photos)

Tangerine Woods Community Center Exterior

Dock on the Bay Condominium located in the middle of Longboat Key, Florida. The project is clustered around a tennis court with all the parking kept on the perimeter to enhance the pedestrian feel and emphasize the interaction between the condominium owners. It is on Sarasota Bay and has over 20 boat slips. Five new buildings were added and fourteen buildings remodeled for a total of nineteen occupied units. Because of the relationship with the docks, bay, and boating, we created a nautical feel to the buildings with porthole type window accents, themed decks with rope trim and a very tropical character.

Tangerine Woods Community Center Exterior

A Multi Use Community Center in Englewood Florida - Tangerine Woods Community Center hosts meetings, performances, dinners, a pool and exercise facilities with locker rooms. The clerestory provides a lot of natural lighting in the space. The clients have been very happy with the contemporary design of this building and it has been popular, functional, and low maintenance. Approximately 10,000 square foot of air conditioned activity space.

Metro Modern

Located in the Museum neighborhood of Sarasota, this Metro-Modern renovation received a new kitchen, new bathrooms and vaulted ceilings. Built in the 1950's and totally redone in 2007 for a client who sold the house for a handsome profit. A new lifetime metal roof, low entry walls with wood accents, and a beautifully defined shaded entryway bring out the style in this project.

Credit Union Building (click here to enlarge)

A Credit Union Building located in downtown Sarasota, Florida. We revitalized their downtown presence - the building was gutted with a complete interior redesign. New offices, safe room, lobby, a covered entry protecting the ATM machine and a completely new roofline have been added. Before and after pictures tell the story.

Jill's House - Costa Rica (click here for more photos)

Costa Rica Architecture Interior  Costa Rica Green Architecture
Jill's House in San Josecito, Costa Rica, a fine example of green architecture - this house is constructed predominantly from one large 7' diameter fallen manglio tree on the property that we had milled. The house was built off the grid with a 12v solar electical system and solar hot water heater. The water system is by a gravity feed pump that requires no power input to pump uphill to a 300 gallon water tank system. The house was built by local craftsmen over a period of nine months. There is a wraparound porch on three sides with beautiful views of the Pacific ocean and Playa Ballena a thousand feet below. It has a cupola at the peak of the roof, combined with transom venting to create natural ventilation. The house requires no air conditioning to be comfortable year round. A truly low-impact green building.

Longboat Key Newspaper Office (click here to enlarge)

Observer Newspaper Office Building - Long Boat Key, Florida: a contempory upgrade to what was originally a drab two-story box of an office building. My client contracted for the renovation and it became the Longboat Key Art Center for several years until the Longboat Observer bought it for the headquarters of their newspaper business.
